Transportation of Children
Before leaving for outings I will discuss with the children where we are going and what we will be doing.
When leaving the service for outings, children will be accompanied at all times by myself and at times another approved adult over
the age of 18 years. I will take my mobile phone with me on all outings and be contactable at all times (subject to mobile network
service). All children’s contact details will be taken in case of emergency.
When walking, younger children will be placed into a pram
and older children will be expected to hold my hands or the side of the pram.
When in the car, children will all be placed into the
car first and then seated in age appropriate infant/child restraints which comply with Australian Standards. Restraints will then
be secured to ensure I am able to watch all children in my care. Children will be expected to display appropriate behavior when in
the car. If for any reason there is a problem I will quickly and safely come to a stop and rectify the situation.
Children will be
transported in my car which is a seven seater. In the case of a breakdown I am covered by Roadside Assistance. My car is serviced
regularly according to the manufacturers’ recommendations.
There will be a first aid kit and ‘emergency bag’ containing items that
may be needed in case of a breakdown or emergency, including items such as spare nappies and wipes, sun cream, water, biscuits and
some books or small toys. I hold a full clean Western Australian Drivers License and will ensure I drive as safely as possible following
all legal requirements. In the case of an accident I will contact parents or emergency contacts as soon as possible.
At the present
time I will not be using public transport. This may be reviewed at a later date.
